Pastoral Church Buildings Scheme affecting the parish of Wigmore Abbey and the parish of Aymestrey with Leinthall Earles and the church of Saint James, Wigmore

To the interested parties and representors under the Mission and Pastoral Measure 2011 process

Dear All.

The attached Scheme providing for:

  • the church of Saint James, Wigmore, being one of the parish churches of the parish of Wigmore Abbey to be declared closed for regular public worship;
  • the alteration of the areas of the parish of Wigmore Abbey and the parish of Aymestrey with Leinthall Earles;
  • the chapel of ease of Saint Andrew in the parish of Wigmore Abbey to become one of the parish churches in the parish of Wigmore Abbey and;
  • the alternation of the name of the benefice of Kingsland with Eardisland, Aymestrey and Leinthall Earles to Mortimer’s Cross

was made today and comes into effect on 1 August 2026.

I also attach some notes in connection with the Saint James’ building once closed for regular public worship.

Kind regards,

Patrick Brown
